PIANOMAN

The time has come. The Harps have cornered PIANOMAN on an isolated island. He is an enemy to the String Kingdom due to being considered both a string instrument and a percussion instrument.

Weave PIANOMAN through the onslaught of music from the Harps while collecting Note letters that appear around the island. Collected Notes are used to create combos for points. PIANOMAN's favorite and flashiest combo is a C Scale!

PIANOMAN is unfortunately doomed on the island, but he wants to go out in style. Go for a high score and try to collect a Scale combo!

Created in Godot 4 for GMTK Game Jam 2024. The theme was "Built to Scale," and our hero PIANOMAN loves building musical scales to earn points!

This is the first game I completed for a game jam!

Controls:

WSAD - Move

Space bar - Use current combo for points

Combo info:

Picking up Note letters in specific orders creates combos worth more points than just collecting Notes alone. Once PIANOMAN has collected the Notes you want to use as a combo, you can press space bar to cash in the combo.

Double note: Any 2 identical notes, such as C, C or F, F.

Triple note: Any 3 identical notes, such as D, D, D or G, G, G.

Quadruple note: Any 4 identical noes, such as E, E, E, E or A, A, A, A.

Scale: A full C Scale, starting and ending on C. The biggest combo! C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C! 

Mini scale: A 3 note sequence from the C Scale. C, D, E, or D, E, F, or E, F, G, etc.

Also, once PIANOMAN picks up 8 Notes they are automatically used in a combo to make room for more. A Scale will always be automatically used since it has 8 Notes.

Unfortunately, Godot 4 does not currently support exporting a game to HTML when using .NET, so the game is only available as a downloadable .zip file.

I created all code, art assets, and audio assets during the time of the jam. I worked across the full 96 hour window, and spent around 15 hours on development.
